Our privacy commitment

1. Who we are

Novelome (novelome.com) maps books by how they actually read and recommends titles that match your taste. This policy covers the website and, where applicable, our mobile apps.

2. What we collect

CategoryWhat it isWhy
Account dataYour email address, if you create an account (used for passwordless "magic link" sign-in).To create and secure your account.
Your reading dataBooks you add, ratings, shelves, saved stations, and your derived "book genome"/Novelome. If you don't sign in, this is stored only in your browser. To generate your recommendations.

Usage analyticsAnonymous events (page visits, opening a station, rating a book) tied to a random local identifier, plus your browser type and referring site. Not linked to your name or email. To understand which features work and improve the product.

We do not collect payment card details (we don't sell anything directly), and we don't knowingly collect sensitive categories of personal data.

3. Cookies & local storage

Novelome stores your shelf and session in your browser's local storage so the app works and remembers you. Our traffic analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) are cookieless, and our in-app event log uses a random local identifier rather than advertising cookies. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

4. How we use your data

We do not sell your personal information, and we don't share it for advertising.

5. Service providers & third parties

We rely on a small number of providers who process data on our behalf:

The app also links out to third-party sites we don't control. Following these links takes you to services governed by their privacy policies:

6. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)

Where the GDPR/UK GDPR applies, we process data under: contract (to provide the service and your account), legitimate interests (to improve and secure the product, using privacy-friendly analytics), and consent where required. You can withdraw consent or object at any time (see your rights below).

7. Your rights & choices

To make a request, email [email protected]. We'll respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

8. Data retention

We keep your account and reading data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to comply with law or resolve disputes. Anonymous analytics may be retained in aggregate.

9. Security

We protect data with measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and database row-level security that restricts each account's data to that account. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your information.

10. Children

Novelome is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we'll delete it.

11. International transfers

Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
